As of the end of September, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide reached 18.21 million, accounting for 5.5% of the total number of cars. Among them, there are 14.01 million pure electric vehicles, accounting for 76.9% of the total number of new energy vehicles. From the first to the third quarter, 5.198 million new energy vehicles were newly registered nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 40%, accounting for 28.6% of the new registrations of vehicles. Among them, the number of newly registered new energy vehicles in the first, second and third quarters was 1.44 million respectively. vehicles, 1.709 million vehicles, and 2.049 million vehicles.


It is understood that the second-hand car market remained active in the first three quarters. From the first to the third quarter, local public security and traffic control departments handled a total of 25.05 million motor vehicle transfer registrations, including 23.31 million car transfer registrations, accounting for 93.1%. In recent years, the Ministry of Public Security, together with the Ministry of Commerce and other departments, have promoted the implementation of reform measures to facilitate the registration of second-hand cars in other places, which has better promoted the circulation of second-hand cars. From the first to the third quarter of this year, the public security and traffic control departments handled 3.805 million second-hand passenger car registrations for cross-site transactions.


As of the end of September, 90 cities across the country had more than 1 million cars, an increase of 8 cities year-on-year. Among them, 43 cities have more than 2 million cars, and 25 cities have more than 3 million cars. The number of cars in Beijing, Chongqing and Chengdu exceeds 6 million, the number of cars in Shanghai and Suzhou exceeds 5 million, and the number of cars in Tianjin, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Xi'an, Shenzhen and Dongguan exceeds 4 million.
